How To Embrace The Cringe: Overcoming The Fear Of Uploading Your Creative For All To See.

Fun personal fact: We're moving! And while we were prepping our current house to sell, I found a stack of photos my childhood best friend and I took of each other circa 1998-ish.

We LOVED dressing up in typical 90's sundresses and bucket hats, cargo pants and baby-doll tees – basically the exact outfits you'll find at this very moment at a PacSun near you.

Anyway! My immediate reaction was a full-body CRINGE. But the more photos I flipped through of my hands on my head with a surprised look that I'm sure I pulled directly from Delia's catalog, the more I thought, "Huh...even in 1998, I was creating content."

And that's when I embraced the cringe and looked back fondly at some of the best memories that simultaneously foreshadowed a career I would never have imagined at 12 years old.

A career in content creation. One where I choose the medium. Multiple ones if I feel like it, and I create what I want, when I want, how I want. And best of all? I GET PAID FOR IT.

So the next time you feel that cringe factor creeping up on you, just know that we all started somewhere.

And the content we create and love today will more than likely make us cringe 30 years from now. But all that cringy feeling means is you've been putting in the work. Perfecting your craft, learning new editing tricks, investing in new equipment, and understanding what it means to communicate to the masses in a clear and concise way in 30 seconds or less.

These are things we learn by DOING. So embrace the cringe, hit post, and email me the link so I can cheer you on every step of the way! We’re here to support each other.

Because if I can look back on these cringe-worthy photos fondly, you can create a piece of content that helps take a few steps closer to creating a career that works FOR you!
